Kenya 2017

My  itinerary:
Nairobi (2 nights) -> Lake Nakuru (2 nights) -> Masai Mara (3 nights) -> Amboseli (2 nights) -> Nairobi
Another itinerary: Nairobi -> Amboseli -> Masai Mara -> Lake Nakuru
OR
Substitute Amboseli for Mombasa which is a beach town.

Weather in July: The mornings and nights were chilly in which we bundled up with our safari jackets.  As the day went on our layers came out because the sun shone and the weather got into the mid 70's.

Best hotels to stay in: Any Serena hotel: Mara Serena in Masai Mara, Amboseli Serena, Mara Engai in Masai Mara, Southern Sun Mayfair Nairobi, Sarova Lion Hill in Lake Nakuru.

What it's like: We would wake up early in the morning and leave for sightseeing in our open-roof Land Cruiser. In Masai Mara we spent the whole day out in the park and packed lunches but in Nakuru and Amboseli we would go out in the morning and come back in the afternoon to eat lunch and then we would go back out for another game drive. Masai Mara was a big park and our hotel was far up in the hill so we didn't want to waste any time driving back and forth out of the hotel.

What you should wear: Bring a hat, the sun in the afternoon beats down and it's better to stay protected. We brought long pants and long shirts to make sure we didn't get bit by bugs. And of course we didn't forget the coordinating family safari jackets!

Overall thoughts: I had amazing fun on this trip! I would definitely recommend going and following one of these above itineraries. We ended up getting extremely tired by the end of the trip and longed to be home and in our own beds. We also went with a group of 20 people so we enjoyed everyday and every night. I feel like this trip can be done as a single family, but the more the merrier!

Also, we booked with Earth Tours based out of Nairobi which specializes with safaris and travels all over Asia!
