Lake Nakuru Day 1

After a relaxing, fun-filled day in Nairobi we woke up early to drive 7 hours to Lake Nakuru. We decided to visit Lake Nakuru because of the flamingo population. Sadly though, the water level in the lake was too high for the flamingoes so they migrated 100 kms farther. So the flamingo population was extremely small. On the way we visited a lake and did a boat ride around the lake. We saw hippos and lots of flora and fauna.

We reached Lake Nakuru Lodge and we were surprised by the baboons. They attacked some members of our party and kept us on edge for the trip. The hotel was good apart from the baboons and we all enjoyed (we were a party of 20 people so you can imagine what fun we had each night!).  After we ate our late lunch at the hotel, we changed and went for ur first ever game drive. We had a total of 4 Land Cruisers which all opened from the top; so we would all stand and take pictures and look at the animals. We saw wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, monkeys, and some flamingoes.

We then came back from the game drive to relax and take advantage of the hotel. Our hotel was right at the edge of a watering hole, so from dinner we could see zebras and other animals.
