Wow oh wow! Kenya is such a beautiful country filled with kind people and amazing animals! We took an Emirates flight from JFK to Dubai and from Dubai to Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi. We reached here at night and ready to sleep. Our next day was already planned out so we woke up early and took some photos at our gorgeous, historic hotel: The Southern Sun Mayfair. We were very excited for this day because we were going to see the elephants!
Elephants are my favorite animals; I look for anything with an elephant print on it. When I heard we were going to visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust i was beyond ecstatic. They are only open for an hour or two and when we got there loads of people and students were already there. They have the elephants in a paddock and the people crowd around the ropes to see the elephants. We managed to get to the front of the row to see the elephants. All of the elephants are orphans and are rescued from dangerous conditions. It was an honor to see the cute elephants and contribute to the fund. Because we were not allowed to really play with the elephants I didn't get any pics with them, but instead took so many cute photos of the elephants themselves.
Our next stop was the Giraffe Sanctuary. They had a few giraffes waiting to be fed and lots of food to go around. We got to feed the giraffes which was amazing and take lots of pictures.
I even "kissed" a giraffe! I put a pellet in my mouth and the giraffe took it form my mouth! It was definitely a cool experience but I kept on reeling back so I didn't get a good picture lol. We then came back to the hotel to rest from the jet-lag and overall exhaustion. Our first day in Kenya was a success!
