Porto, Portugal Day 3

Our third and last day in Porto brought a trip to the Duoro Valley, the infamous wine and port valley in Porto. We started off bright and early in the morning and joined our TripAdvisor group in the van to the Valley. The drive was about an hour and a half and let me tell you something embarrassing and funny. Now, I used to get carsick as a baby a lot, and unfortunately it sometimes hits me, especially with winding roads and fast drivers. Well, I had to ask to pull car over twice, so I could throw up. Embarrassing but memorable things aside, the drive was tortuous for me, but also beautiful.

We could see the winding countryside along with fields of different colors spanning both sides of the road. We went to three different wineries. I can remember the first one, Croft, but the other two keep escaping my mind. We tried over 40 types of wines and ports and ate a lunch at the second vineyard. The location of the Croft vineyard was just breathtaking. I can still picture that serene and peaceful view. It was beautiful and I wish I could have just sat there with a nice wine all day.

By the end of the day we were exhausted and ready to sleep. We had an early morning flight back to Madrid the next day and all the tasting had worn us out. This was a great end to our trip and I would highly recommend a sojourn to the Duoro Valley!
